As part of our focus on the Ancient Greeks, we have been reading many Greek myths. One of these was the story of Icarus. This story has inspired our artwork, with each child making their own version of Icarus and his wings. Watch out for the final artwork on display!
This term in Friendship class our science topic is ‘Rocks’. This week we had a go at looking closely at different rocks, sorting them and grouping them into different categories.
Year 4 loved our Greek WOW starter with Clive Pig. We heard tales of the Ancient Greek gods and acted these out. We also pretended to be in an Ancient Greek market, haggling down the price of olive oil from the seller!
This week in Peace class we had an amazing trip to the art studio at Appledore School. We learnt how to mosaic like real artists and even made some showpieces to bring back to school.
This week we really explored what life was like in World War Two. As a way of making it all seem more real for our children, we had a visitor who read extracts from a book he has written which is based on a genuine diary written in the war. The children got to try on a variety of items that have lasted since the war and looked at photographs that Keith has collected. It was a very inspiring morning.
This week across our Federation we had a visit from Google! The children had the opportunity to climb mountains, visit rainforests, take a trip into space and meet some naughty penguins – all from the comfort of our classroom. What an amazing experience!
